Our purpose-built facility exceeds the safe-keeping requirements of the Firearms Act 1996 (NSW). Firearms are stored unloaded, separate from ammunition, in commercial-grade safes inside a monitored strongroom.

Record keeping

Every firearm tagged, photographed and registered.

On arrival, each firearm is condition-checked, photographed, tagged with a numbered brass tag and entered in our register against your licence details. You receive the full inventory record, and everything is verified item by item when you collect.

Book

Online or by phone. One $100 booking fee covers up to five firearms. We confirm licence and registration details before intake day.

Drop off, or we pick up

Drop off free at Safari Firearms, 146 Stoney Creek Rd, Bexley — Tuesday to Saturday, no appointment needed. Or we'll pick up from your home for a flat $200, Sydney-wide.

Tagged and stored

Each firearm is inspected, photographed, tagged and secured. Your inventory record is issued the same day.

Collect when ready

Give us a couple of days' notice, present your current licence, and we check everything back out to you, item by item.

Worked example: five firearms, one year, with home collection — $100 booking + 5 × $100 storage + $200 collection = $800 all up. Considerably less than what you'd lose selling one good rifle in a hurry.

Compliance

The legal position, in plain English.

We operate under the Firearms Act 1996 (NSW). We can only accept firearms that are registered and belong to the holder of a current NSW firearms licence — or are lawfully part of a deceased estate under the appropriate authority. All storage and transport is conducted to NSW Police Firearms Registry requirements.

What we cannot do: accept anything prohibited, unregistered, or subject to a surrender or forfeiture requirement. Storing with us doesn't change your legal obligations — if the law requires something of you, storage isn't a workaround. If you're not sure where you stand, call us before you book. We'll tell you plainly what we can do, and point you to the Firearms Registry when we can't.

Questions

Things people ask us

Can I visit my firearms while they're stored?
No — stored firearms can't be visited. We can take them out of storage for you at any time, but if you want them back in storage afterwards, the booking fee is payable again.
What if I need them back early?
Not a problem. Give us a couple of business days' notice, present your current licence, and they're yours. The storage year is how we price, not a lock-in.
Do you store ammunition as well?
Yes, stored separately from firearms as the law requires. Mention it when you book so we allocate the right space.
Is my collection actually insured?
Yes — everything in storage is covered for the full term. We go through the cover details with you at intake so there are no surprises.
What happens if my licence expires while my firearms are with you?
Tell us as soon as you know. Your firearms remain lawfully stored with us while you sort the renewal — that's one of the most common reasons people use us in the first place.
How does the yearly renewal work?
Storage renews automatically every 12 months at $100 per firearm, charged to your card by Stripe. You'll always be able to cancel before a renewal by contacting us — cancelling means collecting your firearms, since they can't stay in storage without an active arrangement.
Where do I drop my firearms off?
Safari Firearms, 146 Stoney Creek Rd, Bexley NSW 2207 — any time Tuesday to Saturday, no appointment needed. Bring your current NSW firearms licence.
What if I stop paying?
Talk to us — genuinely, we'll work something out. But be aware of the terms: if fees go unpaid for more than 3 months and we can't reach you, our Terms & Conditions allow us to sell stored firearms through our licensed dealer to recover the storage costs, with any surplus returned to you.
